The Garden unfolding

watercolor sketching at Kinney Azalea garden

Join us for an inspiring journey through the blooming beauty of Kinney Garden with artist-in-residence Jessica Shaffer.

This series invites participants to capture the garden's vibrant transformations through sketching and watercolor painting. Meeting every other week from spring to summer, we'll explore blooms, from early azaleas and rhododendrons to later native wildflowers, documenting each stage of the season.

I provide materials for use in class, but you are welcome to bring your own. If you would like to purchase your own plein air painting supplies, this is my suggested SUPPLY LIST.

We will look at using loose watercolor studies to capture color notes and value.  We'll meet at the gazebo, observe the nearby path of blooming mountain laurel and create loose watercolor studies in our sketchbooks.
